I never met Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. But, like millions of others, I feel like I knew him -- my young son and I watched every one of his shows over the years and through him my boy developed a love for animals that I hope never wanes.
I always admire people who make no secret of loving what they do. Steve Irwin was one of the most enthusiastic and passionate animal advocates ever, sometimes comically so -- "crikey"! But even with his boisterousness you never doubted his expertise and professionalism -- and fearlessness. Ironically, it was not an error in judgment but a simple freak accident that caused his untimely death.
His is a big loss to the world, and our thoughts are with Terri and the children.
